Pranee Amata Hotel

Pranee Amata is a 2.5-star hotel right in central Sairee on Koh Tao, not the serviced apartments some listings suggest. Sairee Beach is about 180 metres away — roughly a five-minute walk — with dive shops, restaurants and nightlife filling the streets around the hotel. Other bays on the island still mean a truck taxi or boat.

Four of the five room types are 30 sqm: Budget Double with a queen bed, Queen Garden View with a double, Standard Twin with two singles, and Deluxe Triple with three singles for three guests. The Quadruple Garden View doubles the floor space to 60 sqm and sleeps four across a queen bed and two singles. None comes with a private kitchen — you get a fridge and kettle in the room, and there’s a separate shared kitchen elsewhere on the property for anyone who wants to cook.

The rest of the property covers an outdoor pool, Amata Restaurant, a bar and pool bar, free Wi-Fi, parking, a garden and terrace, family rooms, shuttle and taxi help, housekeeping, laundry and a small convenience store.

Insider Tip: Don’t judge rooms by size alone — the triple and most doubles are all 30 sqm, so it’s the bed configuration that actually changes between categories, not the floor plan.

This works well for couples, families and dive groups who want to be in the middle of Sairee’s action, with the triple and quadruple rooms making group stays straightforward. It’s a poorer fit if you’re picturing an apartment layout, your own kitchen, or a quiet, secluded stretch of coast — Sairee is Koh Tao’s busiest strip, and that’s the trade-off for being this central.
