Gaa (Bangkok)

Gaa is a two-Michelin-star contemporary Indian restaurant on Sukhumvit Soi 53 in Bangkok, set in a restored traditional Thai house that is roughly 60 years old. Chef Garima Arora earned the restaurant its second star in 2024, becoming the first Indian female chef to hold two stars, and the Michelin Guide lists it among Bangkok’s two-star tables alongside R-Haan, Mezzaluna and Le Normandie.

The cooking is Indian in technique and spirit but built on seasonal Thai produce, served as a signature tasting menu that changes through the year. Hours and booking

Dinner is served every day from 5:30pm. At weekends the house also opens for lunch and afternoon tea from 12pm, which is the lower-key way to try the kitchen. The reservations line runs 11am–6pm. Gaa is reservation-led, so book through gaabkk.com or its current booking partner; for a weekend dinner, booking two to four weeks ahead is sensible.

Insider Tip: Flag allergies and dietary needs at booking time. A vegetarian tasting menu is always available, and vegan and gluten-free versions can be prepared with prior notice. They are much harder to accommodate on the night.

Dress and practicalities

Smart casual is a comfortable fit for the room and for a two-star dinner. Allow extra time to find the house entrance on Soi 53, and arrive for the reserved seating window rather than early.
