Huai Prue Reservoir
อ่างเก็บน้ำห้วยปรือ
Huai Prue Reservoir is a small irrigation reservoir in Tambon Khao Phra, Nakhon Nayok, reached via Khao Turian Road off the Sarika–Nang Rong waterfall route. A paved road circles the water, which holds level year-round even in the dry season, with low hills forming the backdrop. Entry is free, open daily 08:00–16:00.
The loop road makes for an easy walk or cycle, and locals fish from the banks along the way. Mornings bring flocks of fish-eating birds that work the shallows — the best window for birdwatching here. The reservoir occasionally doubles as a venue for provincial water-sports events, hosting rowing, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing competitions when the calendar allows.
Insider Tip: Come early — the birds are most active before mid-morning, and the light over the water is best before the sun climbs above the hills. It’s also noticeably cooler than the midday heat.
This is a small, quiet reservoir rather than a major scenic stop — don’t expect facilities beyond the loop road and open grass for picnics. Reach it by turning onto Khao Turian Road at the 1 km marker of the Sarika–Nang Rong waterfall road and following it about 11 km. It sits along the same route as Namtok Sarika and Sarika Cave, so it’s easy to fit into a single day out from Nakhon Nayok town.
Nakhon Nayok sits under two hours from Bangkok by car, which makes reservoirs like this a popular weekend escape for city residents rather than a stop most foreign travellers plan around — it’s a genuine local spot, not a set-piece attraction. If you’re already heading out to the waterfalls on this road, the short detour to the reservoir is worth the extra time; if you’re not, it’s not a destination in its own right.
