Laem Haad Beach

Laem Haad (แหลมหาด) — also spelled Laem Had / Laem Hat — is the sandbar cape on the northeast tip of Koh Yao Yai. At low tide a ribbon of white sand runs out into Phang Nga Bay with water on both sides and the hills of Koh Yao Noi across the channel. Thai government tourism pages have listed it among Unseen Thailand beaches; foreign visitors mainly come for that postcard walk.

There is no ticket booth. Park or hop off near the dirt/road end, walk to the cape, and time your visit with a local tide table. Shade is limited — bring sun protection and water. Small cafés sometimes open near the access; facilities stay minimal compared with Phuket beaches.

Watch out: Arrive at the wrong tide and the “famous sandbar” is mostly underwater. Check tides the night before, especially if you are on a fixed boat schedule.

Insider Tip: Stay on Koh Yao Yai and scooter over for the best low-tide window instead of accepting a rushed tour photo stop. Pair the morning sandbar with a quiet afternoon elsewhere on the island, then link to bay scenery around James Bond Island on a separate boat day if you want karst drama.
