A villa rental in Phuket gets your group one house and one private pool, and at the better end a chef and a manager too. The first choice is which kind: a staffed villa that runs like a small private hotel, or a self-catering house where you do the cooking. The second is where. The northwest coast is 20 minutes from the airport, Rawai in the south is close to an hour, and the staffed beach houses on Natai are over the bridge in Phang Nga.
Insider Tip: Check the province, not just the brochure heading. Villa companies list Natai and Khao Lak houses under “Phuket” because you fly into Phuket airport, but they’re on the mainland, a long drive from Patong, Kata or Phuket Town.

Every villa here is a whole house with its own pool that you book as one unit, not a pool-villa room in a resort. We put the staffed villas first, because the manager, chef and housekeeping change what a week feels like, and then the self-catering houses we checked as live, whole-villa listings on Booking.com in October 2026. We compared them on the coast and the airport run, how close the sand is, how many people sleep in real bedrooms, and what the staff cover.
Staffed villas on Phuket’s northwest coast
The coast between Nai Thon and Bang Tao is Phuket’s villa belt. It’s the closest stretch to the airport, the beaches are small Andaman Sea coves rather than resort strips, and the Laguna Phuket resorts and their restaurants are a short drive south.
Villa Praison
A 1,600 m² clifftop house with a bunk room for four children, a games room and a 12.5 m infinity pool. Banana Beach is a 350 m walk; the pool is unfenced and the stairs spiral, so watch toddlers.

Villa Praison is built for families. One of the five bedrooms is a dormitory with four bunk beds, three more open straight onto the pool deck, and the games room has a pool table and Apple TV. Staffed beach villas on Natai, Phang Nga
Natai is a long, casuarina-lined beach on the mainland coast just north of Phuket, with kilometres of sand and few buildings. The four Baan Kloi villas sit side by side behind it. You trade Phuket’s restaurants and nightlife for an empty beach and a house with staff, and the airport is 33 km south.

How to choose a villa rental in Phuket
Decide on staff first, then coast, then group size.
- Staffed or self-catering. A staffed villa (Villa Praison, the Baan Kloi villas) means a manager, daily cleaning and a chef who cooks at the house, usually at extra cost for meals. Self-catering means the house and pool, cleaning on a schedule and your own cooking. Grand Villa Luxury Time includes breakfast and daily maid service, which sits in between.
- Coast. Northwest (Nai Thon, Layan, Bang Tao, Surin) for short transfers and quiet coves. South (Rawai, Nai Harn, Kata) for bigger beaches, more restaurants and a longer airport run. Natai in Phang Nga for an empty beach and a full staff, well away from Phuket’s resort strips.
- Group size. Count bedrooms, not the “sleeps” figure. Villa Praison sleeps 10 with four of those in children’s bunks. Grand Villa Luxury Time is the only villa here for more than 10.
Watch out: Villa pools are rarely fenced. Villa Praison’s pool is open and a spiral staircase joins the floors, and the Baan Kloi pools sit right by the terraces. With toddlers, ask about pool fences or covers before you book.
