Mahanakhon SkyWalk

King Power Mahanakhon is Thailand’s tallest building at 314 metres, and its rooftop SkyWalk is Bangkok’s most dramatic viewpoint. The glass-bottomed observation tray extends beyond the building’s edge — you stand on transparent panels with nothing but air between you and the street 78 floors below. Entry runs ฿1,000-1,200 for adults depending on time of day, and the building is open daily from 10am to midnight.

The Views

The indoor deck on the 74th floor has floor-to-ceiling windows and digital installations pointing out landmarks across the skyline — the Chao Phraya’s bends, Wat Arun’s spire, and on clear days the haze line toward the Gulf of Thailand. From there, a second lift run and a short staircase reach the 78th-floor outdoor deck, where the 63-square-metre glass floor cantilevers over the building’s edge. The rooftop bar sits one floor below, on 76, pouring cocktails with the same drop view minus the glass panel underfoot.

Atmosphere and Timing

Weekday mornings are the quietest window — school groups and tour parties tend to arrive from midday. Sunset, roughly 17:00-18:00 depending on season, is the busiest slot and the one most worth planning around: the tiered evening ticket price reflects that demand. Wind at 314 metres is noticeably stronger than street level, and the glass floor can close temporarily in high wind or rain, so it’s worth checking conditions before travelling out for a specific time slot.

Practical Information

BTS Chong Nonsi is the closest station, a short walk from the Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Road entrance in Silom, Bang Rak. Tickets are sold on site or online in advance — online booking is typically cheaper than a walk-up ticket.

Insider Tip: The sunset window (roughly 17:00-18:00) is the most-requested slot and priced accordingly — it falls in the pricier 15:30-19:00 tier. If budget matters more than golden light, the 10:00-15:30 morning slot is ฿200 cheaper per adult ticket and the 74th-floor indoor views are just as clear.

Watch out: Loose phones and bags are a real hazard leaning over the glass floor on 78 — there are attendants but no barrier stopping a dropped phone from that height.
