Play La Ploen

Play La Ploen is a 400-rai flower park and adventure resort in Khu Mueang district, Buriram — the first large-scale flower park in southern Isaan, open since 2012. Adult entry is 150 THB; the park runs 09:00-17:00 on weekdays and stays open until 20:00 on weekends.

Experience

Six themed greenhouses run from ferns and orchids to desert plants and carnivorous species, plus a seasonal cold-climate house called “Flowers of Fantasy” and a Chinese-village-style gallery greenhouse. Outdoors, seasonal cosmos fields, a seedless-grape vineyard and pick-your-own strawberry and mulberry plots sit alongside a small water park, a zip-line, rope bridges and an ATV trail aimed at families. The park also runs Thai cooking sessions, a sheep-feeding zone, and paid learning programmes — “Siam Fossil” (petrified wood and prehistoric elephants) and a food-waste composting workshop, both around 350 THB.

Insider Tip: visit on a weekday morning to have the greenhouses mostly to yourself. Weekends draw coach parties and school groups from around Isaan, and the paths around the flower fields get busy by midday.

Atmosphere & Timing

The gardens peak in the cool-season flowering months, when the outdoor fields and the seasonal greenhouse displays are both in bloom. Play La Ploen won a Thailand Tourism Award in 2023, in the learning-tourism category, for its “Play and Learn for Sustainability” approach — the workshops are built around genuine environmental and cultural themes rather than being an afterthought to the flower photos.

Watch out: general admission covers the grounds and greenhouses only. The ATV rides, cooking classes and themed learning programmes are booked and paid for separately at the activity counter, so budget extra if you want more than a walk through the gardens.

Practical Information

It works as a half- or full-day stop, and the on-site resort makes an overnight possible. The park sits off the Khu Mueang road, an easy drive north of Buriram town — pair it with Prasat Hin Mueang Tam or the Chang International Circuit for a fuller day in the province.
