Talat Chatsila
ตลาดฉัตรศิลา
Talat Chatsila — now signed as Patio Old Town Night Market, though still widely known by its older name — occupies five restored two-storey wooden buildings in a narrow alley between Phetkasem Road and the larger Hua Hin Night Market. The buildings began life as government-employee holiday bungalows in the 1950s before being renovated into the market’s current form. Entry is free, open Wednesday to Sunday from 17:30 to 23:00.
A narrow entrance alley strung with lanterns and decorated with murals leads into a central courtyard set up with dining tables. Food and drink stalls line the courtyard, and a small stage hosts live music most evenings. Around them, craft stalls sell retro-print T-shirts, handmade postcards and notebooks, small accessories, home decor pieces, and a scattering of gadgets and gifts — more browsing market than food-focused night market. Upstairs in the old wooden buildings, a small photography gallery displays black-and-white images tracing Hua Hin’s history, a detail that sets this market apart from its food-heavy neighbours.
The atmosphere is noticeably more boutique than the sprawling Hua Hin Night Market a short walk away — smaller, quieter, and built around browsing and sitting rather than grazing through a long row of grills. Weekend evenings (Friday to Sunday) are busiest, when the live music draws a fuller crowd into the courtyard; midweek visits are considerably quieter. Being closed Monday and Tuesday is the market’s one real inconvenience for visitors working around a short Hua Hin stay.
Reach it via Soi Hua Hin 72 or 72/1 off Phetkasem Road, or through the connecting alley near the Clock Tower — both routes link directly through to Hua Hin Night Market, making it easy to cover both markets in one evening walk. Most central Hua Hin hotels are within easy walking distance.
Insider Tip: Come here first for the photography gallery and craft stalls while it’s still relatively quiet, then walk straight through the connecting alley into Hua Hin Night Market for the seafood grills and busier street-food scene.
Watch out: Don’t plan a visit for a Monday or Tuesday — unlike Hua Hin Night Market next door, which runs nightly, this market is closed those two days.
