Thep Phana Waterfall

Thep Phana Waterfall drops through three rock tiers — roughly 3-4 metres, 2-3 metres, then 6 metres — fed by a stream flowing off the Phang Hoei range in Thep Sathit district, Chaiyaphum. It sits about 7-8km from Pa Hin Ngam National Park’s headquarters, close enough that the same park office (0 4489 0105) fields visitor questions about both, though the falls themselves sit outside the park’s fee boundary. Entry is free, daily 08:30-16:30.

Flow here follows the seasons more closely than at Thailand’s larger, spring-fed waterfalls. The falls run fullest during the rainy season, June to October, when the mountain stream behind them carries steady volume over all three tiers. By the dry hot season, March to May, the upper tiers can thin to little more than a trickle — worth knowing if a particular photo of full-flow cascades is what brought you here, since it may only match reality for part of the year.

The rock terraces form pools at the base that locals use for cooling off on hot afternoons, and the setting is quiet forest rather than a developed park with facilities. This is a modest countryside waterfall, not a headline attraction — most visitors treat it as a short stop on the way to or from Pa Hin Ngam National Park, rather than a full day out on its own.

Getting here needs a private vehicle or motorbike; there’s no public transport option, and the final stretch runs along rural roads through Ban Rai subdistrict. Combine it with Pa Hin Ngam itself, or with Thep Prathan Waterfall, another Thep Sathit District cascade nearby, to make the drive out here worth the trip. Both sit within Chaiyaphum province.

Insider Tip: Since the park office handles enquiries for both sites, a same-day visit to Pa Hin Ngam National Park headquarters, 7-8km away, is the natural way to combine the two rather than making a separate trip for each.

Watch out: Outside the rainy season the falls can run noticeably thinner than photos suggest — if a strong waterfall is the goal, aim for June through October.
