Namtok Tat Fa

Namtok Tat Fa sits about 18 km east of the Tat Ton National Park office in Na Siao subdistrict, Chaiyaphum — a quieter satellite of the park’s better-known main falls rather than a separate attraction in its own right. What sets it apart is its shape: instead of dropping over rocky ledges in tiers, the water sheets down a smooth, sloped stone face with few outcrops, closer to a natural water slide than a conventional cascade.

The falls run about 6 metres high and 50 metres wide across a stone terrace roughly 15-20 metres wide and 80-90 metres long, angled at around 30 degrees. Above the main slope, the stream continues over a series of flatter stone platforms shaded by large trees — a natural spot to sit with your feet in the water rather than swim outright. During the rainy season through early winter, when flow is strongest, locals use the smooth rock as a slide, riding the current down the slope; the same smoothness makes the rock genuinely slippery, and falls happen if you are not careful with footing.

Insider Tip: Tat Fa gets a fraction of the visitors that the main Tat Ton falls near the park office pull in — if you want a quieter stop within the same park, the 18 km drive out is worth it outside peak weekends.

Watch out: The sloped rock face has claimed its share of minor injuries from people sliding without checking depth or footing first. Wear grippy water shoes and test the flow before joining anyone using it as a slide.
