Wat Khwang Weruwan

Wat Khwang Weruwan sits on the Tha Chin River in Pa Sakae subdistrict, Doem Bang Nang Buat district, in the northern reaches of Suphan Buri province. Entry is free and the temple is open daily, 08:00-17:00. It was formally registered as a monastery in 1931, though the site itself is older — local accounts describe the brick-built ordination hall and its boundary stones as predating that registration by generations, without a firmly documented founding date.

The temple’s main draw is an old Buddha image inside the ordination hall, which local sources put at roughly 400 years old. The ordination hall’s brick construction sets it apart from the wooden temple architecture more typical of this stretch of central Thailand, and its riverside setting on the Tha Chin gives the grounds a quieter, more rural feel than temples closer to Suphan Buri town. This is a working village monastery rather than a restored showpiece — expect modest signage and a genuinely local atmosphere rather than a curated visitor experience.

Insider Tip: Early morning is the best time to see the ordination hall’s Buddha image with natural light through the doorway — by afternoon the interior is dim and a torch or phone light helps.

Doem Bang Nang Buat has a small cluster of nearby temples worth combining with this one, including Wat Doem Bang and Wat Hua Khao, both a short drive away. Dress modestly, remove your shoes before entering the ordination hall, and drive or ride in from Suphan Buri town — there’s no public transport link to the gate.
