Wat Klang Kret

Wat Klang Kret is a Buddhist temple in Nonthaburi that stands as one of the area’s notable examples of Mon cultural heritage in the Pak Kret district. This late-Ayutthaya-period temple sits on the mainland bank of the Lat Kret River in Bang Talat subdistrict, directly opposite Koh Kret island, and its pier serves as one of the main crossing points for visitors heading to the island. The temple’s name — “Klang Kret,” meaning the middle of Kret — reflects its position along the river channel that separates the mainland from Koh Kret.

The temple complex features traditional buildings with wooden carvings and Thai temple elements reflecting the Mon cultural presence in this stretch of the Chao Phraya basin. Walk through the main prayer hall to admire the principal Buddha image, surrounded by smaller statues and offerings from devoted locals.
