The fast catamarans make it painless at 1.5 to 2 hours, but this is the Gulf crossing where booking ahead genuinely matters: only four or five fast departures run each way per day across the operators, and in high season they fill.

In those months, take the earliest departure, keep a day of slack before any flight, and treat a cancelled sailing as normal weather business rather than bad luck.

Insider Tip: Divers with big bags: the fast catamarans are strict-ish about luggage space in high season. Keep dive gear consolidated and arrive at the pier 30-40 minutes early for a decent seat.
