ATV 1.5 Hours Jungle Safari Tour On Koh Phangan

Koh Phangan’s interior is mostly jungle-covered hills, and this 90-minute ATV circuit runs along dirt tracks through rubber plantations and up to mountain viewpoints that overlook both the sea and the island’s western coast. No off-road experience needed — the ATVs are automatic and a quick briefing covers the controls before you set off in a small group with a guide leading the way.

The route climbs through shaded forest, crosses streams in the wet season, and opens up at two or three viewpoints where you can stop for photos and catch your breath. Safety gear (helmet, gloves) and accident insurance for rider and passenger are included, along with drinking water and a first-aid kit — though damage to the ATV itself isn’t covered, so stick to the guide’s line on the rougher sections. The terrain varies from packed dirt to rutted jungle track, so expect to get dusty in dry months (February-April) and muddy in wet ones (May-October). Pillion passengers are welcome on the bigger ATVs.

Ninety minutes sounds short but it’s about right — you’ll know when your arms and shoulders have had enough. Hotel pickup isn’t included by default but can be added: 400 THB return from Thong Sala or Thong Nai Pan, 500 THB from Hat Rin and the south-west beaches, 600 THB from Hat Chalok Lam and the far north. Closed-toe shoes, long sleeves to avoid scratches, and a bandana for dust make the ride more comfortable. Clothes you don’t mind getting wrecked are essential — this isn’t the tour for white resort wear, and any trainers you bring will come back the wrong colour.
