Maya Bay reopened in 2022 after its long closure and is still the reason most people book a Phi Phi day trip — this seven-to-eight-hour speedboat tour pairs it with Bamboo Island, Monkey Beach, Pileh Lagoon, and the Viking Cave in a single loop from Phuket, with snorkel gear including fins provided. Check-in is at Royal Phuket Marina, Building MC3, by 9am.

The speedboat makes the crossing in about an hour and usually runs Maya Bay first before the biggest crowds arrive, then traces the coast of Phi Phi Leh past the Viking Cave (swallows’ nests, wall paintings you view from the boat rather than enter) and into Pileh Lagoon — the enclosed emerald-water cove between the cliffs where you swim and snorkel the fringing reef. Monkey Beach on Phi Phi Don gets its name honestly, with the resident macaques coming down to the water’s edge (keep snacks and loose items in your bag). Lunch is a buffet at a beachside restaurant in Ton Sai Bay. Bamboo Island, further north, has the better sand and less traffic than Maya Bay.

Plan for a long but rewarding day — hotel pickup from most of Phuket, speedboat out, lunch, then the return run by late afternoon. The 400 THB adult / 200 THB child national park fee is paid to the guide at check-in. Maya Bay regulations mean no entry to the beach for swimmers — you walk in from the back of the island instead. Reef-safe sunscreen is required under park rules; regular sunscreen is refused at entry. The sea can chop in afternoon wind, especially in shoulder season, so bring motion tablets if prone to seasickness.
