When to go
Nov–Feb Peak dry season for Bang Tao swimming and beach clubs. Laguna hotels, golf tee times and Canal Village all run at their busiest — book rooms early for December–January.
Mar–Apr Still largely dry and usable for beach and golf, but heat builds through April. Slightly quieter than peak winter weeks for many properties.
May–Oct Southwest monsoon brings rougher seas and more red-flag days on Bang Tao. Afternoon storms are common; mornings are often clearer. Resort and golf rates typically soften versus high season.

Overview
Laguna Phuket is Asia’s first integrated destination resort, launched in 1987 on a former tin-mine site in Cherngtalay, Thalang — at the northern end of Bang Tao Bay. The destination is developed by Laguna Resorts & Hotels and allied with Banyan Tree Holdings. Official Laguna materials describe roughly 1,000–1,400 acres of landscaped grounds and parkland/beachfront (figures vary by fact sheet vs site copy), about 3 km of Bangtao Bay beach frontage, and more than 1,400 guest rooms across six hotels.
Think of it as a self-contained village rather than a single hotel: shared lagoons, complimentary internal transport, Laguna Golf Phuket, Canal Village, spas, and 30+ restaurants and bars across the estate (per Laguna’s January 2024 fact sheet). Getting around
Hotel guests use a complimentary shuttle bus between resorts and facilities and a complimentary lagoon shuttle boat. Laguna also promotes Beam scooters on its Experience page. Grab and Bolt cover the wider Bang Tao / Cherngtalay roads for trips outside the estate (Boat Avenue, southern beach, airport).

Beach clubs
On the Bang Tao sand fronting Laguna:
- Xana — Angsana Laguna; large pool facing the sea; daybed packages
- RAVA — Banyan Tree Phuket; opened 2025; three infinity pools across ~150 m of beachfront (THG Bang Tao)
- Casuarina — Dusit Thani beach restaurant/club
Non-guests should check each club’s day access and package rules; hotel guests usually reach them via resort shuttle or a short beach walk.
Canal Village vs Boat Avenue
Canal Village is Laguna’s owner-managed boutique centre in the heart of the estate (opened 1994; fact sheet: 52 leased outlets). Expect practical services (clinic, minimart, exchange, ATM, pharmacy, laundry, tour desks) plus cafés and restaurants — named examples on Laguna’s Canal Village page include Pizza on Fire, Albatross Cafe, GLÜCK, S Cafe and Hong Yun Chinese Restaurant. Reach it by shuttle bus or lagoon ferry from the hotels.
Boat Avenue sits adjacent to Laguna, not inside Canal Village. It is the main off-beach dining and shopping strip for many Bang Tao visitors (Suay Cherngatalay, Ta Wai, Hosay Bowl and others on the Bang Tao guide), with Fun Friday Night Market roughly 16:00–21:00 weekly.
Laguna also promotes a Lifestyle Weekend Night Market Saturday and Sunday from 17:00 at Laguna Grove — separate from Boat Avenue’s Fun Friday.
Golf
Laguna Golf Phuket is an 18-hole, par-71 course inside the destination, with driving range, short-game practice, clubhouse, pro shop and Banyan Café. The redesigned layout opened in 2015. Stay & Play packages are promoted on the official Laguna and golf sites.
Eat
Dining spans hotel restaurants, Canal Village lagoon-side spots, and Boat Avenue next door. Laguna’s fact sheet cites 30+ restaurants and bars across the destination. For lower-priced Thai seafood, the Bang Tao guide still points south along the beach past the resort zone.
When to go
November–April is the reliable dry season for swimming and beach clubs on Bang Tao. March–April stay workable but hotter. May–October brings monsoon surf, more red flags, and softer resort rates — mornings are often clearer than afternoons. Golf runs year-round; confirm tee times and weather holds in green season.
Insider Tip: Use the free lagoon boat when you have bags or kids, then walk the beachfront strip between Xana, RAVA and Casuarina once you are settled — it is the quickest way to feel how the six hotels share one bay rather than six separate resorts.
