BED Friends Poshtel is a loft-style hostel on Phaholyothin Road in central Chiang Rai, with dorm beds, private rooms and family suites under one roof. Bus Terminal 1 is a 4-minute walk away and the Clock Tower about 6 minutes, so you can arrive by coach and be checked in before the heat of the afternoon.

The rooms split into three groups. Female, male and mixed dormitory beds are the cheapest way in. Private singles, doubles, superior doubles and quadruples all use a shared bathroom. The family suites (standard, superior and deluxe) are the ones with a private bathroom, and each sleeps four on a queen bed plus a bunk.
If you want your own bathroom, book a family suite even as a couple. If you only need a bed and a locker, a dorm bed saves the most. The superior doubles and superior family rooms sit above the standard versions, but check the photos for what that upgrade actually adds.
Location and getting there
The street is described as quiet, which is useful given how close it is to the bus station. Bus Terminal 1 is roughly 260-280 metres away and Chiang Rai Night Bazaar about 350 metres, with the Clock Tower around 460 metres. Saturday Walking Street is 900 metres away, so it is a stroll rather than a hop. Arriving late or leaving early is easy because the coach station is so close. Facilities
The building is styled as a modern loft, and the shared spaces are where most of the stay happens: you make coffee in the pantry, drop bags in the lockers and sit out on the rooftop garden in the evening.
Free Wi-Fi, free parking, free luggage storage, lockers, 24-hour CCTV, a rooftop garden and a shared lounge are all on site. The pantry has a fridge, toaster, microwave and coffee machine. Staff arrange bike and car rental and local tours, which helps if you want to reach the sights outside town. Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 11:00.
Who BED Friends Poshtel suits (and who it doesn’t)
It suits solo travellers and small groups who want a cheap base within walking distance of the buses and the night market, and families who would rather share one four-person room than book two. It is a weaker fit if you need an en-suite bathroom in a standard double, a pool, or room service.

Insider Tip: Confirm the bathroom type before paying, because room names like “Superior Double” still use a shared bathroom here. Only the family suites have a private one.
