Villa Sopa is a four-bedroom private pool villa built among rock outcrops on the Samujana estate, above Choeng Mon on Koh Samui. It sleeps eight and has an AV room with a projector. Sopa is 4 km from Samui’s airport and about 900 m from Choeng Mon Beach.
A house built into the rocks
Two king bedrooms are on the ground floor, next to the living room, the kitchen and a dining area for eight. Two more are on the first floor, along with an office and study and a maid’s bedroom. Every bedroom has a terrace and an en-suite bathroom with a rain shower. The master has an adjoining study that can become a children’s bedroom if you ask.
The design works in rock features and indigenous plants, and the roofs are landscaped. The saltwater infinity pool and sun deck look over a coral cove to the islands beyond, with an open-air dining area and a lounge outdoors.
Breakfast is served in the villa each morning, and the manager books cooking classes and massages. A private chef costs extra.
Insider Tip: If a child is joining, ask for the study next to the master bedroom to be set up before you arrive. That avoids giving up one of the four king rooms.
Who it suits
- Rock outcrops and landscaped roofs set the design
- AV room with projector for film nights
- Spare study that converts to a child’s bed
- Backup generators and private parking
- Large open spaces and staircases need care
- Beach is 900 m away, not on the doorstep
- Four bedrooms means a smaller group than the estate’s biggest houses
Two couples, or a family with a young child, will find it the easiest fit. For a bigger party, Villa Tida sleeps 12 with a games room and gym, while Villa Tasanee is the smaller three-bedroom choice. Nearby, Wat Plai Laem and Fisherman’s Village are short drives, and Choeng Mon has the beach. For more, see our Koh Samui guide.
