Villa Anghiari is the four-bedroom house in Kerem, a group of four villas by architect Gary Fell on the hillside at Plai Laem, Koh Samui’s north-east tip. It sleeps eight, or 10 with the sofa beds, has a 13-metre infinity pool, and sits above its own small beach. Samui airport is a 20-minute drive.
Glass, Italian furniture and a pool facing Koh Som
The main rooms are walled in glass and face a 180-degree sweep of the Gulf toward the islet of Koh Som. Furniture comes from the Italian maker Meridiani, mixed with local textiles and earthenware. The kitchen has a five-burner hob, oven, dishwasher, Nespresso machine and a wine fridge that arrives stocked, and the dining table seats 10. All four bedrooms have their own bathrooms; the master has a sitting area whose sofa opens into a bed, and the cinema room converts the same way.
Outside, teak sunbeds and an outdoor sofa line the terrace. The L-shaped pool has a gentle slope from a shallow end, a bench with jacuzzi jets, and enough length for laps. A lawn runs down to a private beach of sand and rock, where sea kayaks and paddleboards wait.
Insider Tip: Ask for the Thai breakfast at least once. Congee or soup arrives at the villa with juice and coffee, and it’s a better start before a kayak round the point than toast.
