Ban Krachut Beach

Ban Krachut Beach (หาดบ้านกระจูด) lies on the Gulf of Thailand coast of Sai Buri District in Pattani province, a fishing-community beach rather than a tourist destination. Colourful longtail boats are pulled up along the sand, and casuarina trees and coconut palms back the shoreline in the pattern typical of this stretch of Gulf coast. Entry is free.

The beach sits within Taluban subdistrict and reflects the Malay Muslim character of coastal Pattani — fishing remains the primary livelihood, and the pace of the place follows the tides rather than a visitor schedule. There are no resort facilities, no souvenir stalls, and little commercial infrastructure. Locals describe it as quieter than Wasukri Beach, the better-known beach a short distance away at the Sai Buri river mouth, and it’s used mostly for picnicking, grilling, and informal camping by people from the area rather than as an organised attraction.

Insider Tip: Combine the beach with a walk through Sai Buri Old Town, where hardwood Melayu shophouses along Sai Buri and Tha Sadet Roads reflect the district’s mixed Malay and Hokkien Chinese trading history — the two together make a fuller half-day than the beach alone.

Watch out: Pattani province has carried long-running travel advisories from several governments because of periodic security incidents in the deep south. Check current guidance from your own government (UK FCDO, US State Department, Australian DFAT, etc.) before planning a trip, and travel with local knowledge if you decide to go.

Independent travel is possible with a rented motorbike from Sai Buri town, the most practical way to reach the beach given limited public transport in the area. There’s no set opening or closing time — the beach is open ground, and visits are effectively self-timed around daylight and tides.
