Chang Puak Camp Chiang Khan
Chang Puak Camp Chiang Khan is a commercial elephant camp in the riverside district of Chiang Khan, Loei province, near the Mekong. Part of the Chang Puak Camp group, it offers elephant rides, a performance show and feeding, making an easy add-on for families visiting Chiang Khan’s old town and walking street.
Activities are sold as packages — a short elephant ride, a show, and the chance to feed and photograph the elephants, with mahouts on hand throughout. It is a conventional show-and-ride camp rather than a no-riding sanctuary, so travellers who prefer observation-only ethical sanctuaries should look elsewhere; those happy with a standard camp will find it a straightforward stop.
The pace is relaxed and the setting rural, on the Loei side of the Mekong. It works best as one stop among Chiang Khan’s riverside attractions rather than a destination in its own right.
The camp is open daily, roughly 08:00–18:00, with activities priced individually. It sits a short drive from Chiang Khan town, easily reached by car or motorbike. Bring sun protection and cash. Pair it with Chiang Khan’s riverside walking street, the Kaeng Khut Khu rapids, and the dawn alms-giving along the old town’s wooden shophouse street.
