Chong Dai Waterfall

Chong Dai Waterfall drops over limestone cliffs in Kanchanaburi’s Sangkhla Buri district, inside Khao Laem National Park. The standard park gate fee applies — 200 THB for foreigners, 40 THB for Thai nationals — and covers this and the park’s other waterfalls on the same ticket.

The waterfall runs down roughly five tiers over limestone before its stream joins the Vajiralongkorn Dam reservoir downstream. It’s a short, easy walk from the car park — well under a kilometre on a forest track — rather than a serious hike, though the path can turn muddy and the road in can be rough, especially in the rainy season. The lower pools are the main draw: clear water, smooth rock to sit on, and dense forest cover that keeps the area shaded through the middle of the day.

Insider Tip: Combine the visit with nearby Krien Kravia Waterfall — the two sit close together off the Thong Pha Phum-Sangkhla Buri road and share the same park entry ticket, so it’s an easy add-on rather than a separate trip.

Watch out: The access road can be in poor condition, particularly after rain, and there’s no public transport directly to the falls — you’ll need your own vehicle or arranged transport from Sangkhla Buri town.

Pack insect repellent and swimwear, and bring cash — there’s nothing to buy at the falls themselves. Sangkhla Buri town, with restaurants and accommodation, is the usual base for the trip, and Khao Laem National Park itself is worth checking for current road and trail conditions before you set out.
