Kroeng Krawia Waterfall

Kroeng Krawia Waterfall sits right beside Highway 323, the road connecting Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri in Kanchanaburi province, around the km 32–33 marker. It’s a modest single-drop cascade, roughly 5 metres tall, spilling over a limestone ledge into wide, shallow pools — genuinely visible from the roadside, with no hike required to reach it. It lies within Khao Laem National Park’s boundary: you can see the cascade from the road for nothing, but entering the falls and swimming area carries the park’s standard entrance fee (200 THB for foreign visitors, 40 THB for Thai nationals), collected daily from around 08:00 to 16:30 — though visitors report rangers sometimes waive it in the dry season.

This is a rest-stop waterfall more than a trekking destination, and that’s its appeal. Drivers on the long haul between Thong Pha Phum and Sangkhla Buri pull in to stretch their legs, cool off in the shallow pools, and grab a coffee or a plate of food from the small shops clustered around the parking area. The pools are shallow enough for families with young children to wade safely, and the water runs year-round, though it’s fullest during and just after the rainy season from June to November.

Watch out: Don’t expect a multi-tiered jungle cascade reached by a long hike — some older write-ups (including this page’s own previous version) describe seven tiers and a 45-minute jungle trek, which doesn’t match what’s actually there. It’s a single roadside drop with shallow pools, not a deep-jungle trek.

Facilities are basic but genuinely useful: restrooms, a handful of food and coffee stalls, and reportedly some overnight lodging or camping options nearby for anyone breaking the Sangkhla Buri drive into two days. The setting is still attractive — thick tree cover shades the pools, and the rock ledge the water runs over is a decent photo spot — it’s just a smaller, more convenient stop than a destination waterfall.

Insider Tip: Combine it with Chong Dai Waterfall, a few kilometres away in the same Prang Phle subdistrict, or Pha Tad Waterfall further along the same road toward Thong Pha Phum — neither needs a dedicated day trip, so stacking two or three roadside falls into one drive makes better use of the time than treating Kroeng Krawia as a standalone stop.

Treat it as a cool-off stop on the Sangkhla Buri road, not a destination in its own right — it earns its place on an itinerary by being convenient, not by being spectacular.
