Koh Chik Nok

Ko Chik Nok is the outer and only inhabited island of a three-island group off Chanthaburi’s Khlung district coast, reached by a roughly 30-minute longtail boat ride from Ang Ka Paong pier. It’s a working fishing village, not a resort — the whole community runs on self-generated solar power, a detail that’s made it a minor case study for renewable-energy visitors as much as a beach trip.

What to Expect

The village (Ban Ko Chik) sits on the outer of three islands — Ko Chik Nok, Ko Chik Klang, and Ko Chik Nai — with roughly 250 of the island’s 750 rai given over to rubber, mango, jackfruit, tamarind, and rose-apple orchards, and the rest left as forest. Visitors join village walking tours, kayak trips around the group, and boat rides out to watch the hawks that circle the coastal wetlands nearby. Freshly caught crab, shrimp, squid, and reef fish, cooked by the homestay family, are the standard meal here rather than a restaurant menu.

Atmosphere and Timing

There’s no boardwalk, no beach bar, and no other accommodation beyond the single village homestay — arrival is by boat only, and most of what happens on Ko Chik Nok happens at the pace of a fishing village rather than a tourist itinerary. November to April brings calmer seas and easier crossings; during the southwest monsoon (roughly June-October) the crossing gets rougher and boat operators may cancel on bad-weather days.

Insider Tip: Book the homestay directly through the village rather than a third-party site — it’s a single family operation with limited beds, and same-day arrivals risk finding it full.

Watch out: There’s no ATM, pharmacy, or shop on the island — bring cash and anything you need for the stay from the mainland before you board the boat.
