Mok Fa Waterfall

Mok Fa Waterfall drops through three tiers inside Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, on the Mae Taeng side of the park rather than the more heavily visited Mae Sa road. It’s a DNP-managed site with a proper gate: entry runs 100 THB for foreign adults and 20 THB for Thai adults, with parking an extra 20-30 THB. The walk in from the car park is short — under a kilometre, 15-20 minutes on a clear trail.

The lowest tier holds the deepest pool, a straightforward spot for a swim after the short walk in. Climbing to the second tier brings the best view of the cascade itself, where water fans out across a broad rock face rather than dropping in a single narrow chute — the effect that gives the waterfall its name, “sky mist.” Forest closes in on both sides of the trail, and the noise of the falls carries well before you reach them.

Weekdays here are genuinely quiet, especially outside the June-November rainy season when flow is at its strongest. Families tend to stop at the lower pool; visitors willing to continue up find the upper tiers largely to themselves even on a Saturday. Basic facilities — a shop, toilets — sit near the entrance gate, though there’s nothing beyond the trailhead itself.

Insider Tip: Go on a weekday morning right after the 07:00 opening. The lower pool fills with Thai family groups from around 10:00, and the trail can feel crowded by early afternoon during the rainy-season peak.

Watch out: The path turns slippery on wet rock once you’re past the first tier, especially during and after the rains. Proper shoes matter more here than at flatter waterfall trails.
