Noen Nang Phaya Viewpoint

Noen Nang Phaya Viewpoint sits on the Chalerm Burapha Chonlathit road in Na Yai Am district, Chanthaburi - not Trat, despite this coastal road continuing on into that neighbouring province further east. It’s widely rated one of the best viewpoints on Thailand’s eastern seaboard, built around a stretch where the road itself becomes the main attraction: an S-shaped curve cut into the coastal cliffs, with the Gulf of Thailand on one side and dense green hillside on the other.

The road here is Chalerm Burapha Chonlathit, Thailand’s longest coastal route, built specifically to link tourist spots along the eastern coast. From the viewpoint platform you look down over the curve of tarmac hugging the cliff edge, with Kung Wiman Beach and bay visible below and open Gulf of Thailand water stretching out beyond it. A roadside fence here has become a minor attraction of its own - couples clip padlocks to it as a token meant to keep a relationship lasting, and it’s now almost as photographed as the coastal view itself.

Sunset is the busiest window, and for good reason: the light angles straight along the curve of the road and cliffs, turning the whole scene gold for the last hour before dark. Mornings are quieter and cooler, with clearer visibility out over the water before any afternoon haze builds up. The viewpoint itself is small - most visitors spend 20 minutes to an hour here - so it works best as a stop along a longer drive rather than a standalone destination.

Insider Tip: Time your visit for the 30 minutes before sunset and stay just past it - the road-and-cliff view photographs better in the fading light than at midday, when the sun sits too high to catch the curve properly.

Getting here means driving the Chalerm Burapha Chonlathit road yourself; there’s no public transport along this section of coast. Parking and a handful of small food and drink stalls sit right at the viewpoint, and bicycle lanes run alongside the road for anyone touring the coast by bike rather than car. Entry is free and the site is open around the clock, though there’s little reason to visit outside daylight hours given the view is the whole point.

Watch out: The road itself is a genuine attraction for driving, which means traffic can bunch up at the viewpoint on weekends and holidays - arrive early if you want easy parking and a clear shot at the fence and platform.
