Samui Quad

Samui Quad runs ATV tours out of Maenam, on Koh Samui’s north coast, and says it’s been operating here since 2002 — making it one of the island’s longest-running quad-bike operators. Rides head up into Samui’s interior hill trails rather than along the coast, mixing sandy and muddy terrain through jungle and coconut palm groves.

Two tour lengths are on offer: a 1-hour ride and a 2-hour ride that adds a stop at a seasonal jungle waterfall and a drink at a trail-side bar partway round. Both start with hotel pickup and a safety briefing before guides lead the group out along mountain tracks to viewpoints over the island’s interior. The operator markets the trails as suitable for all experience levels, with instruction given before riders set off rather than assuming prior ATV skill.

Terrain here is genuine off-road riding, not a groomed circuit — the operator’s own material talks about dealing with floods, fallen trees, damaged trail sections and wildlife crossing the path over the years, which tracks with what an actual jungle trail on a tropical island looks like rather than a sanitised tourist loop.

Insider Tip: Wear clothes and shoes you’re fine getting muddy — the trails cross streams and soft ground, especially outside the driest months, and splashback is part of the ride.

Watch out: ATV tours carry real injury risk on uneven jungle terrain. Wear the helmet and safety gear provided for the whole ride, keep to the guide’s line on wet or rocky sections, and don’t ride beyond your comfort level just to keep pace with the group.
