This shared speedboat trip runs from Koh Samui to Ang Thong National Marine Park, the 42-island archipelago north-west of Samui. The speedboat covers the crossing faster than the big boats and stops at more snorkel spots, and sea kayaking and lunch on an island are included. The park fee is extra.

The Day
The speedboat lands straight onto the beaches, so there is no transfer to smaller boats. You get snorkel stops, a paddle by kayak, and the Emerald Lake, a saltwater lagoon on Koh Mae Ko seen from a platform at the top of a short climb. On Koh Wua Talap, a steep trail climbs past several viewpoints to the top. You can stop partway if it gets too much.
Watch out: The national park usually closes for the monsoon from about 1 November to mid-December, with dates that shift with sea conditions. Check before booking a trip in that window.
Who It Suits
It suits active travellers who want time in the water as well as the views. If you get seasick or prefer more space on board, the big-boat trip is slower but steadier.
Insider Tip: Sit towards the back of the speedboat if the sea is choppy. The front takes the hardest bumps.

Pregnant travellers and children under 1 cannot join. The viewpoint climb is steep; you can stop at the lower viewpoints. Wear sports shoes. The boat runs in poor weather as long as it is safe.
