This private afternoon tour runs from Hua Hin to Kui Buri National Park with Ken Diamond Co.Ltd Tour & Travel. It takes about seven hours and is booked as a private trip, so there is no shared group.
The drive to the Kuiburi Visitor Center takes about an hour in an air-conditioned car. There you spend 30 minutes with the guide, who explains the park, before swapping into a four-wheel pick-up truck with seats on the open back. The main block is about four hours in the park, watching for the roughly 320 protected wild elephants as they come out to feed. The operator also lists birds such as the Crested Fireback, Indian Roller and Asian Openbill, and says gaur and leopards are sometimes spotted. The day ends with an hour at a local restaurant in Hua Hin for dinner.
Included are private transport, a guide, bottled water, dinner, travel insurance and all fees and taxes, so park admission is covered. Tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks cost extra. Pickup is from your hotel, home or condominium: wait in the lobby and the guide will be in touch.
Insider Tip: The truck seats are on an open back, so bring a hat and sunscreen, and binoculars if you own a pair.
Watch out: These are wild elephants in a national park, not a sanctuary or a zoo. The operator quotes a 95% chance of seeing them and does not promise a sighting or a number. It suits anyone happy to bounce along in an open truck for a few hours and accept that wild animals set the schedule. If you would rather meet rescued animals at close range, the Wildlife Rescue Center tour is the alternative from Hua Hin.

Kui Buri National Park
There are still about 320 protected wild elephants living in this national park, and you will see them coming out to eat. The visit also covers the dry-moist forest, where birds such as the Crested Fireback, Indian Roller and Asian Openbill can be spotted. Gaurs and leopards are sometimes seen. Please note before making a booking: These elephants are free in the Wildlife National Park, not in a zoo or animal garden. There is a 95% chance of seeing elephants in the wild. However, seeing elephants cannot be guaranteed with 100% certainty, nor how many you will see. Sometimes you may see them from a distance, or they may be just a few hundred meters away. There are also other animals to observe, such as birds and gaur.
