Night Street Food Tour of Bangkok's Chinatown

Bangkok’s Chinatown after dark is best done on foot and on an empty stomach. This 3-hour evening walk follows Yaowarat from one eatery to the next, with 12+ Thai-Chinese tastings at 7 places. It suits first-time visitors who want a guide to point them at the right stalls, and anyone who would rather eat a proper dinner in small portions than queue for a single plate. The group is private, up to 8 guests.

What the day looks like

The tour starts in the evening and moves at the pace of a meal. The tastings run roughly in this order:

• Noodles in tomato soup with fish balls (about 30 minutes)
• A few dim sum dishes (about 30 minutes)
• A Chinese herb drink (about 10 minutes)
• A few seafood dishes (about 30 minutes)
• Roll noodles in peppery soup with crispy pork (about 25 minutes)
• Thai ice cream (about 10 minutes)
• Black sesame dumplings in ginger soup (about 20 minutes)

Crispy pork belly and roasted duck noodles are among the dishes, and there is a traditional herbal tea tasting. The sweet courses come last, so save some room for the ginger soup.

Good to know

You meet your licensed guide at Exit no. 4 of Hua Lamphong MRT Station, in front of Bangkok Centre Hotel. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, so plan your own way there and back.

Included: the guide, bottled water, local taxes and the food, which is described as enough for a big dinner. Gratuities are not included.

It is an easy walking tour with a stop every 10 to 30 minutes. Come hungry, wear comfortable shoes and skip a late lunch.
