Premium Snorkel Tour to the Bays of Koh Tao onboard the Oxygen

4.9 (129 reviews) Top rated

Reviewed Jul 2026

Highlights

  • Snorkelling gear provided
  • Small group of max 25 guests
  • Thai lunch at a local restaurant
  • English-speaking licensed guide

This 6-hour snorkel tour circles several bays around Koh Tao aboard the Oxygen boat, with five or more stops depending on conditions — from $47 per person, rated 4.9 from 129 reviews.

After hotel pickup and a Mae Haad Pier check-in, the Oxygen calls at Freedom Bay, Buddha Rock, Shark Bay, Ao Luek and Tao Thong Bay. The route covers Ao Luek — a concave bay good for snorkeling even at low tide, with coral on both sides — and Shark Bay, a quiet white-sand cove named for the blacktip reef sharks that pass through, reached via Buddha Rock, a boulder formation locals treat as a spirit rock. A stop for vegan or chicken sandwiches and panna cotta happens on board partway through, with a final snorkel at Tao Thong Bay to look for staghorn coral before the return to Mae Haad Pier.

Snorkeling gear, life jackets, drinking water, coffee, tea and fresh fruit are included, along with a toilet on board and basic accident insurance — useful on a 6-hour trip with this many water stops. Groups run up to 15 people. Koh Nangyuan’s entrance fee isn’t included and is paid separately; hotel transfer covers most of Koh Tao except Mango Bay and Lighthouse Beach, where you’d need to make your own way to the pier.

Insider Tip: You’re back at Mae Haad Pier by midday, which leaves the afternoon free to catch a ferry onward to Koh Samui or Chumphon the same day if your schedule needs it.

This suits confident swimmers who want several distinct snorkel spots rather than one long stop; it’s rated a moderate-difficulty tour, so anyone who needs calm, shallow water throughout might prefer a single-bay snorkel trip instead.

Itinerary

1

Hotel pickup on Koh Tao

2

Meet the boat crews & check in at the pier

3

Depart from Mae Haad Pier to Nangyuan Island

4

Climb up to the viewpoint, relax & swim at Nangyuan Island. Free time for snorkeling at Japanese Reef Garden

5

Enjoy vegan or chicken sandwiches and a sweet panda cotta on the boat to recharge the batteries for the last snorkel stop at Tao Thong Bay where you can spot stock horn corals. Head back to Mae Haad Pier where the driver will bring you back to your hotel or from where you can catch the ferry to reach your next destination.

6

Snorkel at Mango Bay or Lighthouse Bay

7

Snorkel at Hin Wong Bay with colorful fishes

8

The next stop is at the stunning Aow Leuk Bay which is named for its deep, concave shape as well as the depth of the water which makes it good for snorkelling even at very low tide. With the white sandy beach, a coral reef on both sides of the bay and the water varying shades of blue, Aow Leuk is one of the most popular sites for snorkelling.

9

On the way to Shark Bay you will pass by Buddha Rock, a group of boulders creating an almost human-like shape and resembles a male in a sitting position. Hin Yaai Mae is the female. Both are believed to be ‘spirit rocks’ and are treated with respect by the local population. Shark Bay is a private bay with a beautiful beach of fine white sand, shaded by tall coconut trees and Pemphis Acidula. It's a quiet place to come and relax, and got its name from the blacktip reef sharks that frequent here.
