Baan Chang Samui is a five-bedroom beachfront villa in Dhevatara Cove, a gated estate on Koh Samui’s west coast near Lipa Noi. All five bedrooms have king beds, the 18.5-metre infinity pool has a jacuzzi and a shallow end, and there’s a sala right on the beach. It sleeps 10, with breakfast and staff, and the airport is 30 km away.
High ceilings and four rooms on the ground floor
Glass doors open the living room to the garden and sea, and the ceilings are high and the colours soft. The lounge has a smart TV with satellite channels, the dining table seats 12, and the kitchen has an island with stools, an oven and a wine chiller. A small study is useful if someone has to work. Four of the king bedrooms are on the ground floor and the fifth is upstairs, next to a hillside sala.
The pool measures 18.5 by 5.3 metres. Around it are a sun terrace, loungers, two daybeds, an outdoor table for 10 and a barbecue, and the beach sala sits at the edge of the sand. The villa has its own kayak and shares two more with the estate, along with a fitness centre.
Insider Tip: Eat lunch in the beach sala, not by the pool. It’s the one shaded spot right on the sand, and on this west-facing shore the afternoon sun is strong.
