Baan Samlarn is a five-bedroom villa on Lipa Noi Beach, on Koh Samui’s west coast, inside the gated Dhevatara Cove estate. It mixes Thai details, like high teak ceilings, with a modern open-plan layout, and has an 18.6-metre infinity pool with a built-in jacuzzi. It sleeps 10 to 12, with breakfast and staff, and the airport is 31 km away.

The ground floor is one long space: a lounge with a smart TV and BOSE system, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen, with wide windows to the sea. Three bedrooms are on this level (a king with a balcony and walk-in closet, and two twins), and two more kings with walk-in closets are upstairs. Every bedroom has its own bathroom and a sea view.
Outside, the pool is framed by garden, sunbeds and parasols, with a covered lounge and a covered dining area for meals in any weather. The estate shares a barbecue, two kayaks and a gym, and has 24-hour security.
Insider Tip: Bring the mahjong set out after dinner. The villa keeps one along with books and board games, and the covered lounge by the pool stays usable even in a downpour.
