Baan Sairee is a nine-bedroom estate on the beach at Laem Sor, the southern tip of Koh Samui, spread across three acres of gardens. The main house and two converted rice barns are built in the Ayutthaya style, with gabled roofs and teak pavilions. It sleeps 14 to 16 with a chef and staff, and the airport is 26 km north.
Teak pavilions and rice barns
The main villa holds seven of the bedrooms: four with king beds and walk-in wardrobes, two bunk rooms for children and a twin, every one with its own bathroom. The other two kings are upstairs in the Small Barn and the Big Barn, a little apart from the noise. Antique furniture and colour fill the lounge, and the kitchen and dining areas open toward the sea.
Outside, the infinity pool runs along the beach with a shallow zone for younger swimmers. There’s a private tennis court, table tennis under the barn, badminton, a yoga sala and a massage sala, and kayaks for paddling the shoreline. The outdoor table seats 20, and the lawns are lit by lanterns after dark.
Insider Tip: Phuttha Chedi Laem Sor, the gold-tiled pagoda on the rocks at the water’s edge, is a few hundred metres from the villa. Go early: the platform has no shade and the rock gets hot by midday.
Who it suits
- Room for 16 on three acres of beachfront
- Tennis court, yoga sala and kayaks on site
- Barn suites give two couples some distance from the main house
- Breakfast included
- Pool and sea edge not fully fenced
- Far from shops and nightlife; most supplies need a drive
- Chef’s meals cost extra on top of the rental
It suits a large extended family or a retreat group that wants space more than a scene. Koh Taen is a short boat ride from Thong Krut, Na Muang Waterfall is inland, and Lamai is the nearest beach town with restaurants. More villas across the island are in our Koh Samui guide.
