Villa Poppi is one of four Gary Fell villas on the Kerem estate, on the hillside at Plai Laem in north-east Koh Samui. It has three en-suite bedrooms, a 9-metre infinity pool and a private path down to the sea. It sleeps six, eight with the sofa bed, and the airport is 8 km away.
Inside Villa Poppi
Floor-to-ceiling glass runs along the open-plan living room, and the furniture is Italian, with Thai details in the fabrics and pottery. The master suite is the largest room, with its own sea-facing terrace and a lounge whose sofa folds out for two. The other two bedrooms have queen beds. In the kitchen there’s a five-burner hob, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine and a stocked wine fridge, with a table for eight.
The terrace holds the pool, L-shaped, with a shallow end for children and a long bench with jacuzzi jets. A lawn below leads to the shared beach, where kayaks and paddleboards are kept.
Insider Tip: Book a cooking class through the experience manager. Chefs come to the villa for classes as well as barbecues, and a Thai lesson in your own kitchen is easier with children than a trip into town.
Who it suits
- Transfers, breakfast and turndown included
- Shallow end and pool toys for small children
- Master suite with its own terrace and lounge
- Short drive to the airport
- 9 m pool is the estate’s smallest
- Hillside levels mean lots of steps
- Beach is part rock, better for kayaks than swimming
Families of up to six, or three couples, suit it best. Its twin, Villa Pitigliano, is worth checking if Poppi is full. Nearby, Wat Plai Laem and the Big Buddha are a few minutes’ drive, and Choeng Mon has a swimming beach and restaurants. For more, see our Koh Samui guide.
