Villa Duanphen is a four-bedroom villa sleeping eight, on one of the highest points of the Samujana estate. A wraparound infinity pool, a private gym and an interior garden set it apart, and the views run over a coral cove to the islands beyond. The airport is a 4 km drive from Duanphen, and Choeng Mon Beach lies roughly 900 m below.
Hilltop views and an interior garden
All four bedrooms have a king bed, a balcony or terrace and an en-suite bathroom. Three are on the lower ground floor, beside a media room with a desk and the gym. The master sits on the ground floor with the living room and has a bathtub and its own terrace.
The infinity pool curves around the living space, lined with sun loungers, and a dining area for eight opens onto a terrace. The kitchen has a breakfast bar, and the open-plan rooms look onto the interior garden. USB-C power points are fitted in the rooms.
Breakfast is served in the villa each morning, uniformed security is on duty around the clock, and the estate tennis court is floodlit.
Insider Tip: The media room has a desk and chair, so one person can work while the others use the pool. The master is the only bedroom without stairs to the living room, which makes it the one to offer an older relative.
Who it suits
- One of the highest villas, with wide sea and island views
- Four king en-suite bedrooms, each with a terrace or balcony
- Gym and media room in the house
- Pool runs along the living area
- Hilltop layout means steps between levels
- Beach is 900 m away, so most trips need transport
- A chef costs extra, and staff leave at 5pm unless you dine in
Four couples or two families suit it. Villa Karawek is the next step up with five bedrooms and a spa room, and Villa Jane is a similar four-bedroom house with a different layout. Nearby, Choeng Mon has the beach, Wat Plai Laem and Fisherman’s Village are a short drive. More in our Koh Samui guide.
