Srinagarindra Dam Golf Course

Srinagarindra Dam Golf Course is an 18-hole course run by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), built into the hills above the Srinagarind reservoir in Si Sawat district, Kanchanaburi. Green fees run roughly 400 THB on weekdays and 600 THB on weekends for 18 holes, with caddy and cart hire extra — modest prices for a course with reservoir views from several tees.

The layout follows the natural terrain rather than flattening it: fairways cut through hillside vegetation, with elevated tees that look out over the reservoir and the earth-fill dam that holds it back — one of the largest of its kind in Thailand. It’s one of a small handful of golf courses EGAT operates alongside its hydroelectric dams around the country, built originally for staff and opened up to public play. Because it sits well above Kanchanaburi town, the air is noticeably cooler than the valley floor, which makes late-morning rounds more bearable than at courses closer to Bangkok.

Traffic is light here compared to resort courses — this is a working EGAT facility in a remote part of the province, not a golf-holiday destination, so don’t expect a pro shop stocked like a resort course or a wide rental fleet. Bring your own clubs if you have them; rental sets can be limited. What you do get is space: with so few groups on the course on an average weekday, there’s rarely a wait at the tee, and rounds move at a pace resort courses around Bangkok or Hua Hin can’t match on a weekend.

The wider area gives the trip more reason to happen. Si Sawat district is also where operators run reservoir cruises and overnight floating raft houses on the Srinagarind reservoir itself, so a round here pairs naturally with a night on the water or a stop at the dam viewpoint rather than standing alone as a golf-only excursion. Kanchanaburi town, with its Death Railway and War Cemetery sites, is the obvious base for the rest of a western-Thailand itinerary.

Insider Tip: Call ahead to confirm tee times and rental availability before making the drive out — this is a low-traffic course without the online booking infrastructure of resort clubs closer to Bangkok, and turning up unannounced can mean a wasted trip.

Watch out: The drive up from Kanchanaburi town winds through hill roads — allow extra time, especially if you’re also visiting the dam viewpoint the same day.
