Best Muay Thai in Bangkok: 10 Gyms for Visitors (2026)

By Thai Holiday Guide Editorial·10 min read·Updated 8 October 2026·✓ Facts checked Oct 2026

Ten Bangkok Muay Thai gyms for visitors, from Sukhumvit tourist classes to Petchyindee fight camp. Addresses, who each suits, and how to book a class.

Some links are affiliate links. If you book through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Bangkok is where the big stadiums are, and many of its gyms will take a visitor for a single class between temple days. This page covers ten of them: five visitor-friendly classes along Sukhumvit, one in central Samyan, and four fight gyms and local gyms further out. For camps with beds and long stays, our national Muay Thai gyms in Thailand guide is the better starting point.

We verified each address against the gym’s own listing, a booking page or a directory listing in October 2026, and we say which when it matters. We do not publish star ratings, and we quote a price only where the gym’s own site shows one.

How we picked these gyms

Each gym accepts foreign students, and we only list a booking button where a listing is run at that gym. Where we could not confirm an opening time or a price from an operator page, the card says to confirm direct. Two things cut the other way. Fight gyms train working fighters on a Thai schedule, so a tourist class there may be run separately. And Bangkok is a big city: a gym that looks close on a map can be an hour away in traffic.

Insider Tip: Pick the gym nearest your hotel and the time of day you will actually go. A 17:00 class that costs you 90 minutes in a taxi is a worse class than a 14:00 one you can walk to.

How a first Muay Thai class in Bangkok works

The Project H listing is the most detailed description of a visitor class we found, and it shows the shape most of them take.

  1. Warm-up and muscle stretching.
  2. Muay Thai fundamentals, with some full-body weight training.
  3. Padwork, which Project H describes as three rounds one-on-one with the coach.
  4. Cool-down stretching and breathing.

Watchara’s listing mentions punches, elbows and knees, and Kru Dam’s says it teaches from the basics. Classes run about 60 to 90 minutes. FITFAC’s private session is 60 minutes on its own site, Kru Dam and Watchara’s private class list 90 minutes, and Project H and Sor Dechapant list 75. Bring a towel and water, wear light sports clothes, and expect gloves and wraps to be handed to you. Watchara and Kru Dam both provide a shower room but ask you to bring your own towel.

Watch out: Muay Thai is a contact sport and a first class uses real kicks on pads. Check that your travel insurance covers it before you book, and tell the trainer about any injury.

Visitor-friendly classes along Sukhumvit

These five gyms sit within reach of the BTS Sukhumvit line and sell classes aimed at visitors. If you want more of the city, our Bangkok mass transit guide covers the BTS and MRT, and things to do in Bangkok helps you plan the rest of the day.

Watchara Muay Thai Gym: Sukhumvit Soi 1

Watchara Muay Thai Gym

  • Sukhumvit
  • Beginners
  • Group or private

A tourist-friendly gym off Sukhumvit Soi 1, a short walk from the Phloen Chit end of the BTS line. The Klook listing offers join-in group classes and private sessions with English-speaking trainers, all equipment included, in an air-conditioned studio. Suitable for beginners and intermediate students.

First class near BTS Phloen Chit, group or private

Watchara is the gym many visitors find first. It sits at 9 Sukhumvit Soi 1, and booking-page directions give BTS Phloen Chit as the nearest station. Group classes are join-in, with a private option on top. The Klook description says all equipment is included and trainers speak English.

If you would rather book a private session on Viator, there is a listing that names Watchara in its title: a private class at Watchara. It is 90 minutes, solo in the morning or for two to four people in the afternoon. It is sold by a reseller (Siam Scape Journeys), not the gym itself, so changes to a booking go through the reseller.

FITFAC Muaythai Academy: 11 branches

FITFAC Muaythai Academy

  • 11 branches
  • Air-conditioned
  • Beginners

A Bangkok academy teaching since 2013 with branches near BTS Ari, MRT Rama 9, BTS Ekkamai, BTS Sathorn and BTS Ploenchit among others. Gloves, wraps and equipment are provided, trainers coach in English, and the private-session pricing is posted on its own site. The Viator listing is a private 1-on-1 session with free shorts and an optional hotel pickup.

Beginner-led private classes at a branch near your hotel

FITFAC is the one to pick when location matters most. It lists 11 branches, the same prices at every branch and the same hours: weekdays 13:00 to 21:00, weekends 10:00 to 17:30. Its own FAQ says it does not take walk-ins, so book first and expect the gym to suggest the branch nearest your hotel. A private session on the Viator listing comes with free Muay Thai shorts, and our own FITFAC tour page has the details.

The gym says over 80% of its students train to get fit rather than to fight, which fits the structure here: private coaching at your pace, in an air-conditioned room. It is less of a fight-gym atmosphere than the others on this page.

Kru Dam Muay Thai School: Sukhumvit Soi 36

Kru Dam Muay Thai School

  • Thong Lo side
  • Kids class
  • 90-minute class

A gym on Sukhumvit Soi 36, reached from Thong Lo BTS (the Klook directions put the gym roughly 700 metres down the soi). The listing sells a 90-minute regular class, a private class, a private class for two and a short kids class, with gloves and wraps included. The owner, Dam Srichan, is a former national athlete according to the gym's own booking listing.

Kru Dam is at 67 Soi Sukhumvit 36, a walk down the soi from Thong Lo BTS. The Klook listing has four class types (regular, private, a private class for two, and a kids class), and says the gym has an open-air area as well as a studio. That makes it the best fit for a family, or for anyone travelling with a child aged 4 to 10.

Insider Tip: In the hot season, book the earliest or latest slot you can. Bangkok is warmest in the middle of the day, and a gym with an open-air area is pleasanter outside those hours.

Yokkao Training Centre: Sukhumvit Soi 16

Yokkao Training Centre

Yokkao Training Centre

  • Drop-in
  • Prominent alumni
  • 5 min from BTS Asoke

Founded in 2010 as a brand and now a training centre on Sukhumvit Soi 16, about five minutes on foot from BTS Asoke. It has hosted prominent fighters, but check who is currently training before you book. Drop-ins are bookable on its own site, and beginners are welcome. No on-site rooms.

Group drop-in beside the Asoke crossroads

Yokkao is the most recognisable name on Soi 16, and it sells a group drop-in directly on its own site. The open classes run twice a day (10:00 to 11:30 and 17:00 to 18:30), so you can fit one around sightseeing without arranging a private session. The training centre has hosted well-known fighters, but fighters come and go. Check who is training before you go if that is your reason for choosing it.

Laks Muay Thai: On Nut Road

Laks Muay Thai

  • On Nut
  • Small groups
  • Reserve ahead

A neighbourhood gym on On Nut Road. The Klook listing describes join-in group classes limited to three people, with one-off or five-class options, and says advance reservation is required through the gym's own channels. A good fit if your hotel is on the eastern Sukhumvit stretch.

Small-group classes in the On Nut area

Laks is at 204, 10-12 On Nut Road, on the eastern Sukhumvit stretch. The Klook listing describes small-group classes limited to three people, which means more time with the trainer than a larger group class. Reservation is required through the gym’s own channels (the listing names LINE and email), so book a day or two ahead rather than turning up.

Central Bangkok: Samyan

Project H Muay Thai Gym: Samyan Mitrtown

Project H Muay Thai Gym

  • Central Bangkok
  • Air-conditioned
  • Padwork

A gym inside Samyan Mitrtown mall, about 250 metres from MRT Samyan according to the Klook listing. The class runs about 75 minutes with a warm-up, fundamentals plus weight training, three rounds of one-on-one padwork and a cool-down. Equipment and showers are provided.

Mall-based class with padwork, close to MRT Samyan

Project H is the most practical option if you are staying around Silom, Sathorn or the Chulalongkorn end of Rama 4, because the gym is inside a mall beside MRT Samyan. The class format is more structured than most (warm-up, technique plus weights, padwork, cool-down), and the Klook listing offers both join-in and private groups. The Klook description puts it at about 250 metres from MRT Samyan. The same group also runs a gym called Meta H at Terminal 21 Rama 3, according to its website.

Fight gyms and local gyms further out

These four gyms train working fighters or run mostly local classes. They sit outside the main tourist areas, so budget extra travel time and a Grab ride (a taxi or motorbike app) there and back. Petchyindee Kingdom: Bangkok Noi

Petchyindee Kingdom

Petchyindee Kingdom

Working fight camp with on-site rooms and a sauna

Petchyindee is on the Thonburi side of the river, at 36/36 Charan Sanitwong 34 Alley, and is a working fight camp that takes visitors. Our Rajadamnern page lists Petchyindee among the promotions that run cards there, so it is worth checking whether one falls during your stay (see below). Time Out Bangkok lists the gym as open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 20:30, in a January 2026 listing. Some other listings show it open daily, so confirm times before you set out.

Insider Tip: Message ahead and say what level you are. A fight camp will place you in the right session, but a beginner arriving unannounced at a pro session wastes everyone’s time.

Kaewsamrit Gym: Taling Chan

Kaewsamrit Gym

  • Fight gym
  • West Bangkok
  • Muay mat style

Founded in 1992 by Anan Chantip, a former stadium fighter who fought at both Lumpinee and Rajadamnern. The gym has a reputation for a punch-heavy, forward-pressure style. The address comes from a directory listing, so confirm it with the gym before you cross the river.

Kaewsamrit sits in the Chim Phli area of Taling Chan, west of the river and a long way from most Bangkok hotels. The founder, Anan Chantip, fought in both major stadiums, and the gym has a reputation for a punch-heavy style. Allow time for the trip.

Sor Dechapant Boxing Gym: Chatuchak

Sor Dechapant Boxing Gym

  • Fight gym
  • North Bangkok
  • Private group

A fight gym north of the centre, next to Chandrakasem Rajabhat University according to Siam Fight Mag. The Klook listing is a roughly 75-minute English-language private-group class. Allow extra travel time, since this is a long way from Sukhumvit and the river hotels.

LKT Muay Thai Gym: Ramkhamhaeng 3

LKT Muay Thai Gym

  • Clinch and knees
  • Airport Rail Link
  • Beginners

A gym on Ramkhamhaeng 3 Alley, about 350 metres from the Airport Rail Link Ramkhamhaeng station according to the Klook listing. Its Facebook page lists evening hours only (Monday to Saturday, 16:00 to 21:00), so a morning visit will not work.

Watching fights in Bangkok

If you would rather watch than train, Bangkok has two big stadiums. Rajadamnern Stadium on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road is the older of the two, with its first fight on 23 December 1945, and runs cards most nights. Lumpinee Boxing Stadium is now on Ram Inthra Road in Bang Khen, and when we last checked it ran Friday and Saturday cards. Schedules change, so confirm the week’s card before you buy.

Our full guide to watching Muay Thai fights in Thailand covers tickets, seat tiers and what the evening is like. A good plan for a short city break: train in the morning or at lunchtime, rest in the afternoon, and watch a card in the evening.

How to choose

For a first class on a short trip, pick Watchara for the Sukhumvit Soi 1 location, or FITFAC if you want private coaching at a branch near your hotel. Pick Yokkao if you want a group drop-in without a booking fee, and Kru Dam if you are travelling with a child. Pick Project H if you are staying on the Silom or Sathorn side. If you want to feel a working gym, go to Petchyindee Kingdom or Kaewsamrit and accept the longer trip.

Try one class before you buy a package, and keep a day free afterwards. You will be sore. For a longer stay with a bed and meals included, see our national Muay Thai gyms in Thailand guide or browse the Bangkok visit guide and cheap hotels in Bangkok for somewhere close to a gym.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the best Muay Thai in Bangkok for a first class?
For a first class, Watchara (Sukhumvit Soi 1), FITFAC (11 branches) and Kru Dam (Sukhumvit Soi 36) are the easiest to reach from central hotels and all sell classes aimed at visitors. Yokkao on Sukhumvit Soi 16 is the pick for a group drop-in. If you want a working fight gym, Petchyindee Kingdom and Kaewsamrit sit outside the main tourist areas.
Can tourists take a Muay Thai class in Bangkok without experience?
Yes. The gyms in this guide that sell visitor classes (Watchara, FITFAC, Kru Dam, Laks, Project H, LKT and Sor Dechapant) describe their classes as beginner-friendly, and gloves, wraps and equipment are provided at those that list them. Tell the trainer it is your first time and say if anything hurts.
How much does a Muay Thai class cost in Bangkok?
Prices move with promotions, so check at booking. In October 2026 Yokkao's own site listed a group drop-in at $20 and FITFAC's listed a private hour at 1,790 THB. Booking-platform prices for the other gyms vary by class type and date.
Do I need to book a Muay Thai class in Bangkok in advance?
Usually, yes. FITFAC says it does not take walk-ins and that you may wait one to two hours for a trainer if you turn up unbooked. Laks's Klook listing says advance reservation is required. Message or book the day before at minimum.
Where can I watch Muay Thai in Bangkok?
Rajadamnern Stadium on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road and Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Ram Inthra Road both run professional fight cards. Our guide to watching Muay Thai fights in Thailand covers tickets and what to expect, and each stadium has its own page: Rajadamnern and Lumpinee.
Which Bangkok Muay Thai gym is closest to a BTS station?
Yokkao is about five minutes on foot from BTS Asoke, Watchara is on Sukhumvit Soi 1 near BTS Phloen Chit, and Kru Dam is on Soi 36 with a walk from BTS Thong Lo. Project H is about 250 metres from MRT Samyan, and several FITFAC branches are beside BTS or MRT stations.
Can I train Muay Thai in Bangkok on a DTV visa?
FITFAC runs a nine-month Muay Thai programme that it says counts as a DTV Soft Power activity and comes with school documents for your application. It states that it is a school, not a visa agency, and that the decision rests with the embassy. Check the current rules before you apply.
Is Bangkok better than Phuket or Chiang Mai for Muay Thai?
Bangkok suits a short city break, because you can fit one class between sightseeing days and watch a stadium card the same week. Camps with accommodation and long stays are easier on the islands and in the north. Compare them in our guides to Muay Thai in Chiang Mai and Muay Thai in Phuket.
