The long-tail alternative to the bigger Phang Nga Bay boats: a private group capped at 10, a traditional wooden long-tail rather than a catamaran or speedboat, and a longer day — 9-10 hours against an 8-hour catamaran run covering the same bay. Long-tails move slower and sit lower in the water, which keeps the limestone cliffs and cave mouths feeling closer than a faster boat allows.
The day opens with hotel pickup (selected hotels only) and a drive to Phang Nga, then a stop at Suwan Kuha Buddhist Temple — the “Monkey Cave” — a cave temple with a 15-metre reclining gold Buddha and resident monkeys. From there it’s onto the long-tail for the run out to Koh Tapu, also known as James Bond Island, home to the leaning rock featured in “The Man with the Golden Gun.” Sea caves along the way can be explored by canoe. The last stop is Koh Panyi, the stilted fishing village built out over the water, where lunch is served at a local restaurant before the boat runs back to Phang Na Pier and the minivan returns to Phuket.

This trip isn’t recommended for pregnant travellers or anyone with spinal injuries, and passport and hotel details need to reach the operator at least 24 hours before departure.
For a shared, lower-cost way to see the bay on a bigger boat, the catamaran day cruise covers Koh Hong Island instead of James Bond Island.
Itinerary
Pick up from your Hotel and we drive through scenic locations to reach Phang Nga province
Our first attraction is the Suwan Kuha Buddhist Temple, that is in a large cave, also called as the Monkey Cave. This temple house a beautiful 15 mts reclining Golden Buddha statue and is also home to several monkeys that make a good spectacle. In true Thai traditions, we take good blessings of the Buddha before we embark on our long tail boat journey ahead
Our adventure begins as we begin our long tail boat journey to the James Bond Island. The emerald sea is captivating and many sights to behold, the limestones cliff jutting out of the sea, the mysterious caves, that we can explore on Sea Canoes, going underneath them. Eventually we reach the James Bond Island and get to see the famous leaning rock featured in the "Man with the Golden Gun"
After having explored the James Bond Island, and making our own James Bond videos and Instagram pics, we come to the strange world of Koh Panyi, the floating village of Sea Gypsies. Here we explore the floating world over the sea and have our relishing Thai lunch at the local restaurant.
We do the boat journey back to Phang Na Pier and our tour comes to end. We board our minivan and take the hour and half journey back to our Hotel in Phuket
