Phang Nga Sunset and James Bond Island
Availability checked
Phang Nga Bay at sunset sees a fraction of the daytime visitors, which is exactly the point of this late-departing tour. Six to eight hours running from a hotel pickup in Phuket through Phang Nga town, out by longtail boat to James Bond Island and back with dinner on the water as the sun drops.
The route opens with a minibus transfer through Phang Nga valley and a stop at one of the region’s most visited cave temples. From Phang Nga town, you board a traditional longtail and weave out through Thailand’s largest native mangrove forest, threading between limestone stacks and into cave passages that bigger boats can’t reach. James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan) itself gets a beach walk and swim stop. Dinner is at a stilted fishing village overlooking the bay, with soft drinks, bottled water and all fees covered. The return longtail cruise catches sunset over the limestone seascape before you’re dropped back at your hotel.
A genuinely different angle on a sight usually shown at midday under harsh sun. Pace is gentle and low-key, better for travellers wanting atmosphere than activity. Longtail boats are open and can get splashy, so bring a dry bag for valuables and a light layer for the cooler evening. Not ideal for very young children due to the late finish. All fees and taxes are included along with soft drinks, bottled water and dinner. The cave temple stop adds a bit of cultural depth that purely beach-focused Phang Nga tours skip. A 4.9 rating across 82 reviews is strong, and the sunset angle is worth the late finish if you don’t mind getting back after dark. Bring a torch for the walk back to the minibus after dinner.

The James Bond Island is perhaps one of the most famous sights in Southern Thailand. Ever since Roger Moore filmed on the island in the early 1970s, tourists have flocked to witness first-hand impressive rock formations and to re-live some of their favorite scenes amongst the beautiful back drop of Phang Nga Bay.
Stop
Panyi village is a Muslim stilted fishing village in the middle of the bay. Originally floating, this village is inhabited by the decedents of nomadic travelers who settled in the bay many years ago. After a quick look around the village, this is the perfect place to stop for dinner.
