Kalya Residence is a four-bedroom villa in Panacea Retreat, a gated estate high in the hills above Bophut on Koh Samui’s north coast. It sleeps eight, has a 20-metre infinity pool with a swim-up bar, and looks across the north-east coast toward Koh Phangan. The airport is 9 km away and Bophut Beach 4 km.
Upstairs living, downstairs sleeping
A roofed gate and a stepping-stone path between stone walls lead to the main pavilion, which runs almost the full width of the villa under a vaulted wooden ceiling. Glass walls open onto the terrace. A long L-shaped sofa faces a sandstone coffee table, and the show kitchen has an island bar and a wine cooler beside a pedestal dining table.
The four bedrooms are on the lower level, all with king beds, built-in wardrobes, TVs and bathrooms with double basins and rain showers; the master adds a terrazzo bath. Outside, the pool has sunken stools at a swim-up bar, and a Thai sala and barbecue handle dinners outdoors.
Insider Tip: Book after you’ve sorted flights, not before. Kalya is confirmed only once the owner has checked the calendar, so leave a few days’ margin rather than booking the night before you travel.
