Avasara Residence is a five-bedroom villa in Panacea Retreat, a gated hilltop estate above Bophut on Koh Samui’s north coast. It has a 20-metre infinity pool, five king suites and a full staff, and looks out over the forest to the sea. Bophut Beach is 4 km downhill and the airport 9 km.
One long room with a wall that opens
The living and dining room runs the full length of the upper floor, and one wall retracts so the room opens straight onto the view. Rattan sofas, dark wood and Thai artefacts set the tone, and a fully equipped kitchen sits at one end. Upstairs is one master suite with a terrazzo bath and rain shower.
The other four bedrooms are on the ground floor, all with king beds, rain showers and double basins, and each opens onto the garden or a terrace beside the pool. The second master also has a terrazzo tub. The 20 by 5-metre pool is lined with loungers and parasols, with a covered terrace, a dining sala and a barbecue alongside.
Insider Tip: Order your first night’s dinner from the estate’s central kitchen before you land. After a flight, a meal cooked on the hill beats the drive down to Fisherman’s Village, and breakfast is already covered.
