Hin Dad’s mineral water surfaces at 45-55C and feeds three concrete soaking pools of graded heat, plus a fourth reserved for monks — not the untouched rock-pool spring its reputation suggests. Entry costs 40-60 THB for foreign visitors and about 20 THB for Thai nationals, with changing rooms, showers, lockers, and an on-site massage service built around the pools. It’s in Thong Pha Phum district, about 130km and 2-2.5 hours from Kanchanaburi town — well past the Sai Yok waterfalls most day-trippers stop at, which makes it a deliberate destination rather than a drive-by stop.

The hottest of the three main pools sits closest to the source and runs uncomfortably hot for a first-timer; the middle pool offers an easier soak, and the third is shallow enough for children. A handful of steps away, a cold stream fed by nearby Pha Tat Waterfall gives the traditional hot-cold contrast bathing Thai visitors favour — a few minutes in the mineral water, then a plunge in the stream, repeated as long as you like. Steam drifts off the hottest pool most mornings, carrying a faint mineral smell rather than a strong sulfur one, and the surrounding forest keeps the site shaded through the afternoon.
