Ban Kinaree is a five-bedroom villa in the hills above Bophut, on Koh Samui’s north coast, about 10 minutes’ drive from Fisherman’s Village. Spread over three pavilions on different levels, it has a 19.5-metre infinity pool looking over the bay toward the sunset. It sleeps 10, and the airport is 8.5 km away.
Dark wood, high ceilings, five kings
The architecture is Thai with a modern edge: tall wooden ceilings, dark timber, natural stone and small Buddhist details. Oversized sofas fill both the indoor lounge and the outdoor living area, cooled by ceiling fans, and the kitchen opens onto a bar. Indoors and out, tables seat 12.
All five bedrooms have king beds, mini fridges and bathrooms with a bathtub plus an indoor or outdoor rain shower. Three of them add a day bed, useful for a child. The three-pavilion layout gives each part of the group some distance.
The terrace stretches about 20 metres along the pool, and a sala with a jacuzzi sits beside the gardens. Books, board games and a Bluetooth system cover rainy days.
Insider Tip: Time dinner for sunset. The pool faces west over Fisherman’s Village and the bay, so book the chef for the terrace and eat as the light goes.
