Akha Farm Ville

Akha Farm Ville is a Corriedale sheep farm on Doi Chang, in the Wawi subdistrict of Chiang Rai’s Mae Suai district, close to the Ban Saen Charoen viewpoint. Entry is 100 THB, redeemable against one drink at the café, and it’s open daily — 07:30-17:30 Monday to Thursday, 07:30-18:00 Friday through Sunday.

Experience

The farm keeps a herd of roughly 20-30 Corriedale sheep grazing across grassland spread over the hillside, with sheepdogs working the flock alongside them. Feed baskets are sold separately, around 30 THB, so visitors can hand-feed the sheep directly. A café built from natural materials and local wood sits at the centre of the site, serving drinks that pair with the entry ticket — the 100 THB you pay at the gate comes back to you as a free drink here. A carousel corner and a “hobbit house” structure have become the farm’s most-photographed check-in spots alongside the sheep pens themselves.

Atmosphere & Timing

Doi Chang sits high enough that mornings run cool and often misty, which suits both the sheep and the walk between pens. Cloud typically builds through the late morning and can blanket the hilltop views by early afternoon, so the clearest photos come from an early visit. The drive up from Chiang Rai city takes about an hour on mountain roads that climb steadily through coffee plantations before reaching the farm.

Insider Tip: Keep your entry ticket after paying at the gate — the 100 THB isn’t a separate cost on top of a drink, it converts directly into one at the café counter.

Watch out: The road up Doi Chang has tight switchbacks and can turn slick after rain. Drive slowly, especially on the descent, and check the forecast before setting out in rainy season.
