Krua Bophut (Koh Samui)

Krua Bophut (ครัวบ่อผุด) is a beachfront Thai restaurant in Bophut Fisherman’s Village on Koh Samui. The building is a carved wooden Thai house with indoor rooms, an open deck, and tables that push out onto the sand when the tide and weather cooperate. It is the practical north-coast stop when you want Southern Thai cooking and village seafood rather than a resort buffet.

The house positions itself as classic Thai and Southern cooking, with seafood bought in from the Fisherman’s Village boats. It also lists a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award for 2025 on its own site, useful social proof.

Setting

You are on the Bophut seafront, not on a resort lawn. The wooden carving and antique-house layout are part of the draw; so is the option to sit outside with the boats in view. Ask for beach-edge seating if that is why you came. Indoor tables matter more when the monsoon kicks up spray or rain.

Insider Tip: Arrive with a little buffer. Finding the gate, parking, and a sand table takes longer than the map suggests once the village fills for evening.

What to order

Southern heat and seafood are the point. Dishes diners commonly look for here include a spicy Southern curry with seafood (often framed as gaeng som or a yellow Southern curry), stir-fried liang leaves with egg as a cooler plate beside the curry, and shrimp or other shellfish with tamarind. Treat those as direction, not a frozen menu. Boards change, so ask staff what is fresh on the day.

If spice is a hard limit, say so early. Southern plates run hotter than the average tourist Thai set menu.

Timing and sunset

Beach tables for sunset are the scarce resource. Aim for roughly 17:30–18:30 if you want the light and a sand seat. Later arrivals still eat well indoors or on the deck, but the front row goes first on busy nights.

Pair with Walking Street

Fisherman’s Village Walking Street opens Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings along this same seafront (free entry, stalls, crafts, and a Friday beer-garden feel). Book Krua Bophut early, walk the market after dessert, or reverse it and eat once the street is already busy. Either way, you stay in Bophut instead of bouncing back to Chaweng mid-evening.

Getting there and nearby stays
