Ban Pak Phli Local Museum
Ban Pak Phli Local Museum sits in the grounds of Wat Pho Pak Phli, a century-old temple in Pak Phli district, Nakhon Nayok. It is an archaeology museum rather than a folk-life collection: it grew out of Fine Arts Department excavations in the 1990s — carried out with academics from Srinakharinwirot University — that turned up hundreds of artefacts in the area, and it now displays more than 500 of them.
The finds span a remarkable stretch of time, from Stone Age tools through to the early Rattanakosin period, and include imported Chinese Song-dynasty ceramics and Sukhothai-era coins — evidence that Pak Phli was once a trading point on the Nakhon Nayok River. Alongside the excavated pieces, the museum keeps local cultural material such as old weaving tools and traditional theatre figures, filling out the picture of the district’s history.
It is a small, quiet museum — allow around 45 minutes — and an easy cultural stop to fold into a wider trip around Nakhon Nayok or the Khao Yai foothills. Hours can be informal at a temple-run museum, so it is worth checking before a special trip; weekday mornings are the most likely time to find someone on hand to show you around.
