Thailand Circuit Car Racing
สนามแข่งรถไทยแลนด์เซอร์กิต
Thailand Circuit is a grassroots motorsport track in Nakhon Chai Si district, running club races and track days since it opened in 1989. It’s not the venue behind MotoGP Thailand — that’s Chang International Circuit in Buriram, a newer, purpose-built track hundreds of kilometres away. This is the older, smaller circuit that’s long served as the closest motorsport venue to central Bangkok for grassroots racing.
The calendar runs mostly March through November, with time attack sessions, club touring car races, and endurance events filling race weekends — September and November tend to see the busiest scheduling. General spectating is free; walk up on a race day and watch from trackside without a ticket. Driving experiences and paid track days run separately and need booking in advance through the circuit directly, so don’t expect to turn up and get behind the wheel without arranging it first.
Race weekends bring a working-paddock atmosphere rather than a polished spectator experience — teams prepping cars between sessions, drivers comparing notes, the kind of access you don’t get at a major professional circuit. Outside event days, the track sits quiet, so checking the calendar before making the trip matters more here than at a bigger venue.
Insider Tip: Check the circuit’s own website or Facebook page for the current events calendar before visiting — race days aren’t fixed to a weekly pattern, and there’s nothing to see on a day without an event.
Watch out: public transport doesn’t reach the circuit. Plan on self-driving or a taxi from Nakhon Pathom town, and bring ear protection if loud engine noise bothers you — there’s no way to watch from a distance that avoids it.
- Spectating: Free; track days and driving experiences booked separately
- Opened: 1989
- Event season: Roughly March-November, busiest September and November
- Location: Nakhon Chai Si district, Nakhon Pathom
- Getting there: Self-drive or taxi — no public transport to the gate
Combine a circuit visit with other Nakhon Chai Si stops on the same trip — Wat Bang Phra and Ban Wat Samrong Folk Museum are both in the same district, useful if you’re timing a visit around a race day rather than building a full day around the circuit alone.
