Theppitak Park is a working pomegranate orchard, not the national park its name suggests — a private farm of more than 900 rai in Phop Phra district, Tak, close to the Thai–Myanmar border. Owners Pairat and Buppah Chaiyanak planted the orchard and bred two of Thailand’s better-known pomegranate varieties here: Sri Panya, developed in 1996, and the seedless Sri Siam, in commercial production since 2004.

Rows of pomegranate trees stretch across the property, with the fruit ripening dark red and notably sweet for the variety. Alongside the pomegranates, the orchard also grows golden orange, honey orange, and custard apple, giving it more of a farm-stop feel than a manicured botanical garden. A small shop presses fresh pomegranate juice on site — worth trying, since the packaged version sold at roadside stalls elsewhere in Tak doesn’t come close. Harvests peak twice a year, April to June and again November to December, when the trees are at their fullest.

Insider Tip: Buy the juice fresh from the farm shop rather than the bottled version sold along the highway — it’s pressed the same day and noticeably better.

Outside peak harvest, there’s less fruit visibly hanging and the visit leans more toward a quiet walk through the rows than a fruit-picking outing — worth knowing before you plan a special trip around it. The orchard sits well off the main tourist circuit, so expect a working farm atmosphere rather than a polished attraction with facilities laid on for visitors.

Key Facts:
  • What it is: Private pomegranate orchard, 900+ rai
  • Signature crops: Sri Panya and seedless Sri Siam pomegranates, plus citrus and custard apple
  • Best time: April–June and November–December harvest peaks
  • Entry: Free (pay for juice or fruit)
  • Hours: Daily, approx. 09:00–17:00
  • Getting there: ~28 km from Mae Sot via the Tak–Phop Phra road

Getting here means a car or motorbike — public transport in this stretch of Phop Phra district is thin. Rose Farms in Phop Phra sits in the same district and pairs naturally with a visit, while the Rim Moei border market near Mae Sot makes a reasonable add-on if you’re already out this way toward the Myanmar border.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Theppitak Park actually a national park?
No — despite the name, it's a privately owned pomegranate orchard spanning more than 900 rai, not a Department of National Parks site. It's run as a working farm you can walk through and buy fruit from, not a protected forest reserve.
What's grown at Theppitak Park?
Mainly pomegranates — the orchard's own Sri Panya variety (developed in 1996) and the seedless Sri Siam variety (producing since 2004) — alongside golden orange, honey orange, and custard apple.
When are the pomegranates ripe?
Peak harvests fall in April–June and November–December, when the trees are heaviest with fruit. Some pomegranates are available most of the year, but the orchard is at its best during those two windows.
Is there an entrance fee?
Entry is free. You pay only if you buy fresh pomegranate juice or fruit to take home.
How far is it from Mae Sot?
About 28 km along the Tak–Phop Phra road, then a short turn — roughly 30–40 minutes by car.
