Three Kingdoms Park
อุทยานสามก๊ก
Three Kingdoms Park (also known locally as Suan Samkok) recreates scenes from the Chinese Romance of the Three Kingdoms in a themed garden roughly 10 km inland from central Pattaya, in Bang Lamung district. Stone bridges cross koi ponds, Chinese-style pavilions dot the grounds, and life-sized statues of the era’s generals and scholars stand throughout several themed sections separated by bamboo groves.
The statue work is the main draw — detailed figures of warriors and strategists positioned as if mid-scene from the Three Kingdoms folklore, rather than a generic sculpture garden. Ornamental rocks, bonsai displays, and clipped hedges follow traditional Chinese landscaping principles, and the layout rewards slow walking rather than a quick loop — expect 2-3 hours to see it properly. Frangipani and jasmine scent the courtyards between the more formal statue zones, and a raised balcony area gives one of the better vantage points over the garden layout for photos.
The park’s reputation is inconsistent, and it’s worth being upfront about that rather than glossing over it: visitor reports over the past few years range from well-kept and peaceful to closed on arrival with no notice and paths left overgrown. The food and shop area, in particular, is often shut even on days the grounds themselves are open. None of that means the park is permanently closed — most recent reports describe it as operating, just unreliably staffed and maintained.
Insider Tip: Call ahead (038 421 428) on the day you plan to go, and treat the trip as a bonus stop rather than the reason for a day out — pair it with other Bang Lamung attractions so a closed gate doesn’t waste the trip.
Watch out: Don’t count on buying food or drinks inside. Bring your own water and snacks in case the shop area is closed, which visitor reports flag as common. If you take a non-metered taxi from central Pattaya rather than Grab, agree the fare before you set off — Bang Lamung sits outside the zone most Pattaya taxi drivers work by meter.
Morning visits (before 11 AM) are cooler and better for photographing the statue work; comfortable walking shoes are worth it since the garden paths aren’t paved throughout.
